Before Terry Rozier was starting for the Celtics, before he was scoring a team-high 29 points against the Sixers in the Eastern Conference Semifinals opener, he was sharing his NBA aspirations with one of his future playoff opponents. Richaun Holmes and Rozier were roommates at the draft combine in 2015. "[I saw] his willingness to compete," Holmes said.
When Markelle Fultz spent two days in Boston last June visiting the Celtics during the pre-draft process, it felt like home. ''It almost feels like I belong here,'' Fultz said at the time. It turned out to be nothing more than a field trip when the Celtics surprised many and passed on selecting Fultz with the No. 1 overall pick.

Injuries are having a major impact on the NBA playoffs. After Jaylen Brown strained his right hamstring in Boston's Game 7 win over Milwaukee, he all but begged the Celtics doctors and trainers to let him suit up for the start of their Eastern Conference semifinal matchup with Philadelphia. Boston managed to win without him in its 117-101 victory over the sluggish 76ers in Game 1 Monday night, thanks to career nights by Al Horford, Terry Rozier and rookie Jayson Tatum.
Taking Game 1 over Philadelphia by a surprisingly comfortable 16-point margin, the Celtics clearly did a lot of things that worked well. "We have to play better defensively," said Celtics coach Brad Stevens. Despite the Celtics win, Philadelphia's Joel Embiid absolutely dominated, finishing with 31 points, 13 rebounds and five assists.
The 76ers are currently playing in the Eastern Conference Semifinals against the Celtics, putting them closer to a possible return to the NBA Finals. This is the first year the Sixers have been in the playoffs since 2012. Philadelphia has won three championships.
While Boston guard Jaylen Brown has proclaimed himself ready for Game 2 against the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday, the Celtics aren't so sure. The Celtics tweeted on Wednesday that coach Brad Stevens had listed Brown as "doubtful" for the game. "I'll be back," Brown, who is suffering from a right hamstring injury, told NBC Sports Boston earlier this week.
The Philadelphia 76ers shocked the NBA viewing public on Monday when they dropped Game 1 to the Boston Celtics on the road. True, the Celtics had homecourt advantage but the Sixers looked like the best team in the Eastern Conference several times during their previous round series against the Miami Heat. Plus, Philadelphia lost by 16 points, 117-101.
