Kyrie Irving will ‘easily’ be ready for training camp after ‘long f—ing’ recovery from knee injury

f77e8f0eb6f549fdb2ea5cb50724fc30

Boston Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving was sidelined in April after a pair of screws in his left knee from a previous injury became infected. On Thursday, Irving went through one-on-one drills with his trainer in Las Vegas and detailed the extent of his injury and rehab — something that apparently could have been much worse than it was. The Celtics discovered the bacterial infection on the metal wiring and screws in his left patella, which was a result of the fracture he suffered in the 2015 NBA Finals.

C’s-Bird deal shows how two-way contracts should work

c2666b41a264b8b2621f7818aaa8cb07

When the NBA decided to institute two-way contracts as a roster option for teams, no one knew how it would turn out. The 6-foot-6 wing was drafted by the Celtics with the 56th overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft and was soon signed to a two-way contract which meant he could spend as many as 45 days with the Celtics while the rest of his professional basketball career was with the Celtics' Gatorade affiliate, the Maine Red Claws. For a late second-round pick like Bird, it was the best of both worlds: a chance to play in professional basketball and within that, potentially get some time in the NBA.

Report: New Balance wants to sign Gordon Hayward, jump back in basketball shoe market

31ed03777486191b4c9e4746fe9e3d7b

Gordon Hayward is a free agent. Not on the court, he’s still a Boston Celtic, and they are banking on his return from a gruesome ankle injury last season and providing the shot creation, shooting, and all-around game that had Danny Ainge targeting him in free agency a year ago. One company with strong interest in Hayward is New Balance, which would look to re-launch its dormant basketball category with the Celtics star.
